Valley City State University

After being forced to pack all its servers into a pickup truck heading for higher ground due to a 500-year flood in North Dakota, Valley City State University decided to implement a more effective disaster recovery solution. Replay came to the rescue.

Lincoln Electric Systems

Lincoln Electric System (LES) takes care of all of the power needs for residents and businesses in Lincoln, Nebraska. The company generates, purchases, transmits, and distributes electricity for approximately 127,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Lincoln and surrounding communities.

Walden House

In the 39 years since it first opened its doors as a local drug and alcohol treatment center, Walden House has evolved into a national leader in developing strategies to help addicts recover and maintain their lives. Services are available in a variety of settings depending on each client’s unique needs. So the staff at Walden House has its work cut out for it and right now, they treat more than 3,400 men, women and children each day. It falls to Walden House’s IT Analyst, Eric Sagerdahl who uses AppAssure’s Replay to make sure nothing goes wrong with any of the systems.

California Almond Board

Last year, 1.5 billion pounds of almonds were grown in California. That’s 81% of the world’s supply. Established in 1950 through a Federal Market Order, the California Almond Board supports every grower in that state with information, market expansion efforts, and more. The Board’s wide-range of responsibilities are managed by a staff of about 40 people. Bill O’Donnell, Senior System Administrator says that e-mail is vital for communications and the Board’s website is essential for getting information to constituents. Keeping both systems up and running with up to the minute information is critical. He relies on Replay AppImage for Microsoft Exchange backup and recovery and also protects his SharePoint environment to keep his website readily available.

Whalen Furniture

California-based Whalen Furniture manufactures and distributes furniture to retailers across the US and in Mexico and China. It’s an endeavor that requires crucial business systems – Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server, the Whalen website, warehouse management systems – and their associated data to be constantly accessible. Protecting data and keeping systems up and running falls to Ivan Breit, Systems Administrator. Tape backups were protecting data but Breit knew that if he ever needed to restore data, he’d have to do it “in minutes not hours or days.” The need for fast application and data restoration lead him to Replay AppImage which delivered even more.

Best Friends Animal Society

On any given day, about 1,700 animals are in the care of Best Friends Animal Society. Housed, treated, and trained at the organization’s sanctuary in Southern Utah, dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, horses, parrots, guinea pigs and others recover from abandonment, mistreatment, and physical disabilities while awaiting adoption. According to Doug Sattler, the Systems Administrator that tends to Best Friends’ Microsoft Exchange environment, “we’re completely dependent on email.” Any outage would impede fundraising, adoption processing, accounting, human resources, and veterinary work. Shelly Automotive Group operates five car dealerships (BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Infiniti), Dealers Choice Auto Auction, and Spectrum Collision Center in Orange County, California. Managing 7 business locations, 400 employees, a wide variety of partners, and, of course, customers requires a lot of communication and Shelly executives rely heavily on Exchange. Imagine Schools

Imagine Schools operates 72 public charter schools that serve about 37,000 students. Schools are located in 12 states and the District of Columbia. While each school is independent and managed by its own administration and district; e-mail, school websites financial systems and student information databases are all the responsibility of Imagine Schools’ central office in Arlington, VA.

University of Maryland

Academic departments at the University of Maryland rely on systems administration teams to deliver all IT services including e-mail. System Analyst Carlos Luceno and his team watch over the e-mail system used by electrical engineering, physics, and chemistry department faculty and staff. Raycom Media

Canton Township is home to 85,000 people in southeastern Michigan. A large suburb of Detroit, Canton employs about 600 people in police, fire department and administrative positions.
